Matches resume this weekend 2017-07-15

With the return from school holidays and as the end of season approaches, here are some important upcoming dates/events.

Although there is no organised training this week, the lights will be on at the usual times (that is, if I remember to turn them on!) if any keen coaches and teams want to have a kick around. Games are back on this coming weekend (15/16th July).

Final Games – Juniors U6-U11 (non-competition)  July 16/17 matches for all ages will be played. Please note, the draw on display currently only goes to July 22nd, this is not the end of the season, teams will be regraded and new games will be available on the draw once results are in. Games will be scheduled on until the weekend of August 12/13.

Final Games – U12 and Up If you are in a division of 8 teams (14 rounds), your final game as shown on the draw is probably a make-up for rained out Round 10 on July 16.  Provided there are no other wash-outs, it is likely your division will be broken into two groups of 4 who will play each other for a further three rounds.

If you are in a group of 10 (18 rounds), your final round is likely to be August 12 make-up for washed out Round 10.

Gala Day Juniors August 19/20 – Gala day is a special event where your team plays several (shortened) matches against different opponents.  Details will follow closer to the event.

Presentation Day – Please keep Sunday 10th September free for medal/trophy presentation and other fun-filled activities down at Bannockburn Oval.

5-aside Summer Competitions: Summer competitions typically play 5 or 6-a-side weekdays (weekends summer sports like cricket use the fields).  For those who have not tried 5 or 6 a side, you can expect:

  • all games have referees (even U6)
  • all games are at the same time and location each week

There are quite a few competitions around, and our Club supports www.primarysoccer.com.au. There are two main reasons for this:

  1. They are not-for-profit with a share of any income returned to winter clubs based on the number of participants (make sure you mention Bannockburn when registering!).
  2. They are the best value for money charging for 16 weeks of competition what others charge for 10 weeks (see http://primarysoccer.myclubmate.com/website/default.asp?type=general&page=costpayment ).

It’s good to be back. Good luck this weekend.
