Welcome back to Football Season 2013

The Bannockburn “Rovers” welcome you back

Why are we referring to ourselves as the “Rovers”. The Bannockburn Rovers club was originally established in 1962 for players in the Pymble, Turramurra and Gordon areas and specifically for those near Bannockburn Oval. Over time the “Rovers” name has got lost but we have decided to re-introduce it. We hope it will catch on, GO THE ROVERS! Read more about the history of the club.
Firstly, I would like this chance to welcome you to the 2013 football season which is set to start on the 6th April 2013.
I would also like to let you know that Online Registrations this year will be open from Tuesday, January 22nd and the online registrations will be via the MyFootballClub website. This system allows players to register and pay individually online. For all other methods of payment you will still need to register via MyFootballClub and select manual payment. You will receive an email on Monday the 21st January directing you to the MyFootballClub website with a step by step guide on how to register.

Important Dates

Grading Days 2013 (2 Days) for U9-U12

Saturday 23rd Feb 2013, 8:30am to 1:00pm, Ku-ring-gai Hockey Centre (see map below), Ku-ring-gai High School, Bobbin Head Rd

  • U9 – 8:30am to 9:30am
  • U10 – 9:40am to 10:40am
  • U11 – 10:50am to 11:50am
  • U12 – 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Saturday 2nd Mar 2013, 8:30am to 1:00pm, Ku-ring-gai Hockey Centre, Ku-ring-gai High School, Bobbin Head Rd

  • U9 – 8:30am to 9:30am
  • U10 – 9:40am to 10:40am
  • U11 – 10:50am to 11:50am
  • U12 – 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Introduction to the Club Mini Day (U6) and Welcome Back Training Day (U7-U8)

These age groups will not be graded.
Saturday 9th Mar 2013, 8:30am to 1:00pm, Ku-ring-gai Hockey Centre, Ku-ring-gai High School, Bobbin Head Rd.

  • U6 – 8.30am to 9.30am
  • U7/U8 – 10.00am to 11:00am (Depending on the number of registered players this may become two 1hr sessions with the U8’s moving to 11:30am to 12:30am, we will advise you if this is the case

Womens and Girls Competition 2013

Last season we had our first girls team in the U9’s (non-comp) and from all reports it was an enjoyable season. As a club we are looking to build on this and hopefully enter at least a second girls side.

Girls Football is played on a Sunday which is perfect for that sporty girl who plays Saturday sport (eg Netball) but also wants to play Football, or if Sunday just works better for the family.

The club is also looking to enter a Womens O40 5-a-side, social, Saturday afternoon team. The aim of this new competition is to bring back players to football who are no longer able to play a full field game or for those women interested in just playing. It is aimed at a more social level of football and Bannockburn would love the opportunity to field a team.

The club is always looking at ways to obtain sponsorship so we can continue to upgrade our equipment, kit and generally ensure the club keeps growing and giving back to the players and the community. So in saying this if are willing to provide some sponsorship or know of someone who would be we are more than happy to discuss how we can makes this work for both the club and the sponsor, which may include advertising on our website, banners etc. Please let us know.

Football Boot Donations

Do you have any old soccer boots that you no longer wear? Then please give them to us.
We have teamed up with the charity Shoes for Planet Earth and will be collecting your old soccer boots in February/March at the Info/Grading/Mini and Welcome back to the club days as detailed above.
Please make sure they are still in good condition, brushed clean and tied together. Shoes for Planet Earth will then distribute them to those less fortunate so that they continue to play the sport they love. You can find more information on the charity at www.shoesforplanetearth.com
